Your Essential Camping Clothing Checklist

Camping can be a fun, rewarding and refreshing activity, no matter who you’re going with or what time of the year you are planning to pitch your tent. When planning your camping trips, one of the most important questions that you might be asking is what you should pack to wear. Your camping clothes can make or break your experience and they are important for keeping you warm at night and protecting you from the elements during the day. Here are some clothing staples you should pack for camping.

#1. Thick Socks:

Keeping your feet warm and comfortable is a must when camping, whether it’s during the night when your toes are likely to get cold, or in the day when you’re hiking and taking part in other outdoor activities. Thick socks are the best way to go when it comes to looking after your feet as they’ll protect you from chafing and blisters during the day, along with providing insulation and warmth during cold nights. #2. Sturdy Boots:

Your choice of footwear is vital too, and you can’t go wrong with a pair of high-quality, sturdy hiking boots. Invest in a good pair, since the last thing you want is boots that chafe your feet and cause blisters, or let in water whilst you’re walking through puddles or in wet grass. Always consider getting trekking poles no matter how good your boots are. There are situations where they’re invaluable, for stability and potential injuries while in the wilderness.

#3. Hats and Gloves:

Even during the summer, it’s a good idea to pack a hat and gloves since this will provide extra warmth at night. Bear in mind that the temperature can drop significantly after dark, and even in your toasty sleeping bag, it’s extremities such as fingers and your face, which won’t be in the bag, that’ll be cold. A hat and gloves will keep you warm and comfortable and ensure that you don’t lose sleep from shivering.  If you are planning on doing any form of activity while camping, it’s wise to bring the right.  If hunting, for example, you’ll want to make sure your gloves are suitable for operating a rifle.  Take a look at the selection of rifles and camping clothes available at Woodbury Outfitters for some examples.

#4. Waterproof Gear:

Even in summer, you never know when a shower might hit, so it’s good to take along some waterproof gear such as a light rain jacket at the very least. Light-weight weatherproof outer gear will take up very little space in your bag and can be thrown on over your clothing to keep you dry if you get caught in the rain.

#5. Camp Wear:

Lastly, it’s important to bear in mind that your clothing is likely to get a little dirty around camp, so have some designated camp wear that you don’t mind getting muddy or torn. It’s also a good idea to take plenty of layers for wearing both at camp and during your excursions; this is always a better idea than wearing just one layer of clothing as it allows you to layer up or down depending on your temperature and needs.
