How To Make Affordable Improvements To Make Your Home Feel Luxury

We all deserve to love our home and feel amazing when we enter it, so we are here with some affordable changes you can make to your home to give it a really luxury feel, like it has been redesigned by a fashion designer! You really don’t need to spend a fortune to fall in love with your home again, which we’re going to show you!

Create An Accent Wall

The first thing you should do is create an accent wall in one of the rooms you want to make more luxurious, as it can truly transform the space. Accent walls work best if you have a relatively large empty space, as too much empty space can cause a room to lack atmosphere. It also looks good if the rest of the walls in the room are a more neutral colour.

So, an example would be having 3 walls a slightly darker shade of nude and then having one lighter nude colour. On the light wall, choose 5 or 6 wall art prints to style together on the wall. You can buy them separately or many websites sell them as packages so the hard work is done for you! Choose prints that tie in colours from the other main 3 walls and you have a beautiful, coherent space. Stick to neutrals here, with whites, nudes and black colours and you will create a really luxury look.

Replace Soft Furnishings

Another thing you can do that can really transform is a space is to replace the soft furnishings. This is such an affordable change to make and there are great companies selling cheaper rugs, duvet cover sets, curtains and cushions that are really affordable and look luxury.

Lost in Nature Decor

So, no matter which room you are wanting to transform, you can make a really big difference. Go for more luxurious looking fabrics like brushed cotton, pure cotton or silky materials then dress up with additional soft furnishings, playing with colour and texture to create a real luxury feel.

Change Up Your Lighting

Something that can really bring a room down is poor lighting, so brightening it up can make a huge difference. Replace really big and heavy lamp shades with lighter ones that allow light to diffuse through them, creating a beautiful and luxury finish.

You should also change your actual lightbulbs from bright white lighting to energy saving yellow lights, as this brings a luxury warmth to any room. You might want to keep brighter energy saving bulbs in the kitchen, but in bedrooms and living areas, keep it nice and warm toned with yellow lighting.

Declutter

One of the best things you can do to help your home feel more cosy and luxurious is to declutter! Not only is this completely free, but it could actually make you money. You never see super luxurious houses with lots of clutter, as it makes the space feel smaller than it is and it detracts from the room. With less clutter, things will also collect less dust, so it will be a healthier home environment overall.

So, tackle one room at a time and get rid of anything you don’t need. This could be clothing, furniture, accessories, anything! If there are things that you think you can sell, put them onto a local marketplace and anything else, take down to the charity shop (unless its very useless of course). You will feel so much better after a good declutter and it will help you to fall in love with your home.
