Keeping Your Clothing Pet Hair Free (No Easy Task)

We love our pets, and they bring so much joy to our lives. However, when it comes to our work clothes or evening wear, it can be a little frustrating to discover that it is covered in fluff. Before you plunge into hopelessness and wonder if you will ever be able to go out without being covered in pet hair, take a look at these five tips for keeping your clothing free from fur and fluff – allowing you to go to work and events without feeling too panicked.

#1 Keep the Furniture Clean

This can be a great way to reduce the amount of hair and fluff around the home, and also allows you to sit down without fear of your clothes getting covered in fur. Vacuum them regularly, but also ensure that there is a blanket or throw over them during the day so that all the hair is collected there instead of on the chair material. Once the throw is carefully removed, you should have a very clear area to sit on.

#2 Don’t Wear Work Clothes Around the House

When you get home, make sure you take your work clothes off as quickly as possible and store them in a place that pets have no access to. In the morning, do all the things you need to, like feeding your pets, before you get dressed so that you can minimise contact in your work clothes. Even better is the option to change when you are actually at work, but this is not possible for everyone.

#3 Vacuum Daily

Running the vacuum cleaner (ideally a Pet hair specific vacuum) around the home once a day will ensure that pet hair is picked up regularly so that it doesn’t have time to collect in piles or fly around when a breeze comes through. If you find yourself short on time, you can also check out robot vacuum cleaners that do all the work while you are out and about – and they can also be quite affordable solutions too. Robot vacuums learn the layout of your home as well, and you can control them from your phone no matter where you are, making them reliable and taking some of the stress away from housework.

#4 Brush Your Pets Regularly

Keeping your pets well-groomed can help to prevent excessive moulting in your home. There are some that shed all the time, and others where it becomes worse just before the summer or winter months as they prepare their new coats. The regularity of grooming depends on the breed, but try to make sure that you are doing it outside at least twice a week to minimise the amount of fluff in your home.

#5 Use a Lint Roller

These are lifesavers, especially for quick touch-ups before you go into the office or get out of the car. You can buy sticky paper or Velcro-type versions, but each works excellently. Simply roll it over your clothes and all of the fur and debris is removed quickly, leaving you spotless. You should always have one in the car for emergencies.

To Conclude

Hopefully, this has given you a little help when it comes to trying to keep everything clean and fur-free. Of course, there will always be a few stray hairs, but these solutions ensure that you don’t like you are sporting a whole new (and fluffy) style of clothing. By following the tips stated above, you will be well on your way to a more relaxed morning start.
