Lifestyle Changes You Should Make in 2019

article by Audry Taylor

The New Year is here, and you are probably writing down your resolutions. For some of us, 2018 was great, while for the others… Well, not so much. Still, it’s no reason to presume that 2019 won’t be fantastic! Here are some ideas to make the New Year as amazing as you deserve it to be.

1. Relax and meditate

Meditation is one of the best ways to improve your overall well-being. It helps when it comes to coping with stress, and it keeps you calm and focused. It can improve your memory and concentration, among other cognitive functions. By some accounts, it can even lower your blood pressure, so it’s extremely beneficial for your health as well. Start small – wake up a few minutes earlier and use that time to relax and clear your brain. When your day is over, take another ten minutes to meditate before you go to bed and practice breathing techniques. It’ll be more difficult in the evening, because your head will buzz with all the issues of the day, but once you get a hang of it, it’ll be much easier and more enjoyable. 2. Create a solid bedtime routine and stick with it

Bedtime routine is more important than you could possibly imagine. Prepping your brain for sleep will result in better quality sleep which will enable you to feel great every morning and start all your days well. Firstly, turn off all the screens at least half an hour before bed. Yes, even your phone. Next, turn off any glaring lights in your bedroom, and go for ambient lighting or even candles. Meditate for some time, and make sure not to go to bed before you have a good grip on your thoughts. Finally, make sure your room is completely dark before you go to bed. Stick with this routine, and you’ll be much better rested in 2019.

3. Update your beauty regimen

Make sure you do your fair share in this aspect as well. In 2019, focus more on the depth of things. Make a point of never going to bed wearing makeup, and be particularly good to your skin. Cleanse and hydrate every morning and every night. When it comes to makeup, try to find some shortcuts that work for you, and that’ll make your routine a bit shorter. For example, a good lash lift will save you some time you’d normally spend on curling your lashes, and a perm will make a good chunk of your hair routine redundant. This will give you a bit more time to snooze off in the mornings.

4. Take a bolder approach to fashion

Do not follow the fashion, make fashion follow you. Trends are only as good as they look good on you, so don’t try to force yourself into something you don’t really like. Be bold about your style, and experiment until you find something you head over heels with – it’s a much better way to go about it than just following trends, don’t you think?

5. Eat healthier

Even though it’s incredibly difficult, steer clear of candy as much as you can. Bring in the veggies, and don’t forget to always have a snack at hand – a tiny bag of nuts can go a long way. Eating healthy will keep you fit and in a good mood. It will also improve your memory and it will make you happier in general. You’ll feel better physically, and you’ll be in higher spirits than last year for sure!

6. Exercise regularly

Even though you must have heard about how important exercise is, you may still be a bit unwilling to commit to a gym membership. Well, never fear – you don’t really have to. Exercise can be something as simple as taking your dog for a walk every day, or chasing your kids around the park every afternoon. The important thing is to stick with it and to do it regularly. You already know about the many health benefits that come with exercise, but you’ll be surprised by how much happier you’ll be once you start exercising properly.

7. Make more time for your loved ones

This is one of the most important things to do in 2019 – make more time for your loved ones. This is one of the little things that make our lives so much better. Have an ice-cream with your little niece, and listen to her kiddy problems. Help your mom plant her new flowerbed. Go shopping with your friends, or have a card game with your brother. Remind them as often as you can that you love them and are there for them.  It’ll make you feel wonderful, and you’ll be much happier.

No matter how good or bad 2018 was for you, you should sail into a much better year than the one you’ve left behind. Use some of these suggestions to make sure 2019 is great and memorable.
