Bratislava, Slovakia Street Photography by Juraj Bartoš

Juraj Bartoš has been a photographer for 40+ years, mainly on the side of street photography. He may be one of the oldest Slovakian photographers to record fashion trends in the 80s up to today as well as the daily life in his own neighbourhood. Looking through is blog, he has easily become of my favorite street photographers. His fashion photography is without a doubt my favorite style, not posed, and not stalkerly either. All his subjects seem relaxed and comfortable , albeit a little surprised sometimes. His local  Bratislava Street photography is an awesome insight into his world and daily…

Fashion Icon: Ze! – Electropop Glam-Core Awesome!

Ze! is the Fashion Icon of the week here at Street Fashion Worldwide and there’s no need for an explanation. Her outfits scream ZE! and reflect her electropop glam-core music and personality in a colorful and memorable way. No one can resist her eye-poppingly original outfits or her highly danceable up-beat music and personality – not even those of you who like to keep things a little more conservative. She will grab your head and yank it in her direction, leaving an imprint of neon and wow in your mind forever! She reminds me of my obsession with the 80s…

Photo of the day: Springing Yellow in the Street

Lots of sources keep saying that this year’s thing is Neon and whether it is because we were told so, or because it is, neon has been showing up everywhere, in stores, on the streets and I’m totally cool with that. Ever since I can remember I’ve loved neon and although many people associate it with the 80s, why? It’s a 2012 thing now, the 80s can’t have it anymore, and with the designs coming out in neon, most of them nothing like 80s style in shape or style. Yellow is one of my favorite trending colors right now, a…

Photo of the day: Thriftin’ it

Thrifting is an art, plain and simple. Sometimes you’re born with an eye for potential and sometimes you have to learn by example or, in my case experience. I’ve bought plenty an acid wash jackets or high waisted jeans from the 80s, somehow thinking I had scored some amazing “cut rate comeback fashion” only to find the stuff fits weird, makes me look silly or worse. I have however scored some major finds that I still have today, like my sequin sweater collection and several slouchy boots I still love. Some people however just have major skill, whether they get…

Simpel Watches With a Timeless Kick

The folks at Simpel have certainly come up with something genius in the form of their Simple Switch Watch! Their take on the timeless timepiece perfectly captures and encapsulates the zeitgeist of yesteryear, the ’80s slap bracelet’ and the ‘switch and mix’ watches – two things I cherished greatly as a ratty banged 80s kid. The watch itself emulates the classic slap bracelet that we all have no doubt attempted to emblazon upon our wrists at some point or another. The thing with these watches is that they’re far less likely to end up underneath the sofa bed and be…

The EOS Mixtape Watch

This watch is awesome, and already at the top of my wishlist (which I shamefully sent to all my family already). I tried a couple years ago to make some jewelry out of mini tapes from old answering machines, and wasn’t too successful in making them look as awesome as I’d imagined. EOS however, did,  just by making their own rather than trying to get sticky label glue off of them while trying to manage 300 yards of tape ribbon with 5 cats in the room. The Black EOS Mixtape Watch and the Tokidoki Mixtape Watch are probably the best…

Stevieboi found the future

Somewhere between the invention of the rocket bra and the self drying jacket in Back to the Future, we lost sight of the importance of future forward fashion. Sure we have iPhones and robots on mars but as soon as we figured we could just pretend people in the future wore different clothing than ‘today’, we stopped working towards it in reality. “Future people” became something we were no longer responsible for, but really, that’s us dammit! WE are supposed to dress like Mad Max or Blade Runner! And to quote Futurama, “Welcome to the land of tomorrow!”. Maybe adding…
