I’m not a fan of big name runway fashion shows, for many many reasons, two of the biggest being the absurd costs the average item from said designers, and second, the unwearable nature of half the items on parade. Of course this does not go for all runway fashion. Most small designers do runway shows from time to time and it’s a sign of growth and professionalism, but I still have a hard time accepting the big name charades put on every year at fashion weeks around the world. Even with all the absurdity going on, there are still many…

Spring 2013 – Torn by Ronny Kobo
If bold colors and patterns are what you seek, this is the collection to shop. Torn by Ronny Kobo has taken bright patterns and matched them with bold base colors in many of the featured designs this season. One that stands out is the Celine skirt. The bright red and black tribal pattern is a timeless design. It stands out and shows that you have bold personality. Another fun piece in the collection is the Margie Scarf Shorts. They are a yacht club worthy tie-dye and would work great for summertime casual outings. The design across the front of the…
A Travel Bag That Lets you Travel Longer!
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gone on the road, at an airport or to a cafe to find my laptop, tablet and phone dead within a short time because there weren’t any plugins left open. In a car at least I can plug in my phone via USB but I’ve tried converters for the car and nearly fried my laptop and the converter in the process. For some reason our tablet just doesn’t charge in the car at all and although it has a long battery life, when it’s charged, it seems to die when it’s not…
Designer Creates Eco Fashion Human Hair Bags
South Korea-born, London-based fashion designer Tae Seok Kang created an eco-fashion collection of Human Hair Bags using vegetarian leather. Gross you might say? Not to me who won’t wear or carry leather or animal hair. In fact it seems quite ironic that humans themselves would become a part of a fashion accessory, except the method to obtain human hair is nothing like the methods to obtain animal fur. Entitled ‘Sexual Humorous’, the bags aim to explore the “narratives of sexual human body and [address] the question of palpable sensations that manifest from the sexual instinct of human being and the range…
Blogger Feature: Tres Awesome, Chicago Street Style
I’ve yet to visit Chicago myself but I love the designers, shops and style that comes out of that city. I am constantly surprised by the diversity and cohabitation of urban style and vintage style from this historic city, and am tempted to visit just to go on a people watching and shopping tour every time I find a new Chicago blog. Tres Awesome is a particularly fun street fashion blog, roaming the streets with a keen eye for individuality and this summer, taking their Chicago eyes to music festivals around the country. If you need to feed your street…
Photos of the day: London Fashion Week
As always, London Fashion week was unabashedly british in both style and feel, many designers really pulling together some “Piccadilly Circus” style outfits, in the most literal meaning of the word “circus” (designers, Danielle Scutt, A Child of the Jago and Meadham Kirchhoff). Other designers really leaned towards androgyny, designing “Things that can be borrowed from a man to a woman and from a woman to a man.” as quoted by Irish designer, J.W. Anderson. To watch more, visit rightster.com I can’t admit that I would wear all of the things some designers consider unisex but it’s an interesting style movement…
Designer of the week: Ana Branco of Portugal
Potential is as much of a factor in a designer’s future as vision and style. Designers are constantly evolving and experimenting, drawing their inspiration from people they see, friends, and their own fashion needs and desires and the ability to see these needs and trends is an important skill for a designers to have. Also, designers who take advantage of successful classic designs, merging them with inspiration from today’s styles and where they see fashion going in the future, have a slight advantage over designers who immediately jump into designs so innovative, they crash and burn before they reach their…
Beautiful New Ardentees
Ardentees is a great collaborative effort of design meets fashion that has for quite a while now been haunting my dreams, in a good way. The designs are ones you wouldn’t expect to see on tees on just any people on the street. No bold text with cliche slogans, no pop culture references or famous people, teams or bands – just art and innovative use of t-shirt space. You really have to check out the designs yourself (see below)because no string of adjectives will really do them any justice. “The limited edition collection is the showcase and dissemination of designs…
A Bagslag’s Dream!
I was recently contacted by this company as I often am, but what stood out first was their name. Bagslag is one of the most clever names I’ve heard in a while for a company, especially a bag company. I haven’t actually seen a bagslag bag but aside from the name being so clever, their designs are pretty clever as well.
